Frequently Asked Questions

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I will do the job right the first time... and I'll only "handover" once it is perfect. I will be on time and make sure to clean up after myself. I will always look for creative and out of the box ideas to that seem to be a very simple problem...

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I've always been good with my hands. While living abroad I was the maintenance manager for a big organisation and had to deal with everything from building, electrical to fixing the vehicles. Jack of all trades... Once I returned to South Africa I started working as a handyman and got two contracts with property holdings companies and I made sure all of their building were kept in order.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

I particularly love electricity and lighting... I did my apprentice as an electrician years ago, but never got my wireman's licence. So I can fix any problem, but am not allowed to wire a building from scratch. I have also studied computers and IT, so I can help with those issues as well.

How do you normally charge for your service?

The Call Out fee will be R 650,00 per hour or part there of. After that I will charge R 350,00 per hour or part there of. All other material will be added at cost price.

What makes your pricing competitive?

I have been called out a few time where it was just a small problem that was fixed within ten minutes. Most of these instances I asked and found that there were lots of small things wrong and I fixed it. All still covered by the initial call out fee.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Uptasker customers?

For the month of May, I'll give the second hour for free...

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Often when I get to a job, there are lots of "stuff" in the way... clearing the area normally takes a few minutes. An easy way to save time and money is to make sure there is nothing that will hinder the job. If it is something that you want me to install that you are providing. Make sure all the parts and pieces are there. Very important. Give a very clear and precise description of that the job entails when requesting any services. That way I can come with the correct tools and supplies.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Ooooh, that depends on the job. But, sometimes my customers would rather provide the material themselves. Or if it is a cabling job, what distances are we looking at. If it is an area that is not easily accessible... That would be great to know before the time!

Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I will not finish till you are completely happy! So, yes. I guarantee my work.
