Greenfree Pools has been cleaning pools and ponds for 25 years, and all of my customers have been very happy with my offering, some of which have been on my books for 24 years now.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I have B.Sc from Wits, worked as an entomologist in the citrus industry for 14 years. Next, I was the facilities manager for a large school near Cullinan for 3 years where I honed my skills in construction, plumbing, electrical and estate management. In 1999 I started my business, initially based in Cullinan and later moving to Faerie Glen where we managed pools in Pretoria East for 5 years. We moved to Midrand, servicing greater Johannesburg and Midrand over the next 10 years. We managed large lakes that were overgrown with water lilies, reeds and marsh plants, improved water clarity, such that the floor was clearly visible in the deepest parts using natural products. In the last 10 years GreenFree Pools has come home to Pretoria where we still manage pools all over Johannesburg, Midrand, Centurion and Pretoria East.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Greenfree Pools provides fortnightly as well as weekly swimming pool maintenance. We offer repairs to all filtration equipment, pumps, plumbing systems, pool cleaners, electrical installations including lights and timers. We offer pool clean-ups and sand changes. Every effort is made to conserve water. We install water tanks to reuse pool water to save money and the environment. We offer cleaning of water features, Koi ponds, and indigenous fish ponds. Water quality management is critical for healthy fish and aquatic flora. We use a range of pond additives that are safe for fish and the environment. We offer repairs to all filtration equipment, pumps, plumbing systems, and ultraviolet light systems.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Switch off pumps in case of burst pipes, always keep water level above bottom of the weir, pumps should never run dry.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

What type of pool or pond, fibreglass or marbelite, water level - is the pool full or half empty, what colour is the water - green or brown, is the pump and filter running? A photo of the issue at hand is always useful. It is important to have all the customer's details, accurate location, a photo of the pool, and the issue at hand.

Our workmanship is guaranteed, warranties for pumps and filtration equipment are as per the manufacturer.
