TREE RISK

TREE RISK SA realises the importance of trees and the benefits we gain from having them in our environments but this should not come at an high risk to us, or our property. We also understand that all trees, healthy or not, are classified as a “risk” and if we were forced to make our trees “safe” (if possible) it would not just be very costly but would also encourage bad tree trimming techniques and we would not be able to experience their full benefits. Tree Risk SA is focused on finding a common ground.

In SA a lot of our trees were planted by the first European settlers; these are almost all alien trees but also known as Veteran trees as they are very old. These Veteran trees are often protected because of their historical value and are as much part of South Africa's history as the settlers themselves.

These same trees are generally in a bad state of decay and the fact that many of these trees where planted in areas where it is now built up, with a lot of traffic and or pedestrians in close vicinity, render these Veteran trees as high risk. If not assessed properly and timeously it could result in serious damage ,loss of life, as well as losing the tree in the process.
