Frequently Asked Questions

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I understand that each person is an individual...so I don't apply a "standard" look across the board, I rather "switch-up" the application according to the individual, and make it personalized.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

I've been in the Fashion and Beauty trade for 35 years. Both as a fashion designer, and a makeup artist. I've worked for the top leading beauty brands, each specializing in what they do best. Over the years you learn alot from trial and error...and eventually you get to the part when you understand what works and what doesn't work. Ive earned that.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

Yes, most definitely.... Both in Fashion and Makeup. Styling and transformation.

How do you normally charge for your service?

It really depends on the individuals needs.... On the makeup side the bride can choose different packages eg: Luxury brands which would be...Chanel/ Dior/ Nars/IT and few other top brands. These products are Premium Brands and therefore the costs would be different than say for eg the intermediate brands, so thats where the pricing difference could play a role. Traveling costs play a factor as well, and also the amount of hours you require on the day, for eg: some brides require you to stay so you can touch up between the photo session and the grand entrance ( as well as the dress change), some require you to stay overnight so you can do their face before breakfast...this all adds to the cost. Lastly, its the amount of faces/ hair, or last minute requests that also add to the total as "overtime"... it really is beter to be clear on the amount of people before hand, which allows the makeup artist plan, and price correctly. Any past that starts to be an extra.

What makes your pricing competitive?

We run specials, so its always best to enquire what is available around the time you are planning your wedding. With our different package options...you should be able to find a suitable option.

Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Uptasker customers?

Interestingly enough....yes. We offer no transport costs to brides getting married within the Helderberg parameter ( this is a huge saving, especially with petrol costs on the rise). Brides that come to the Stellenbosch studio for their test makeover pay half price for their test m/u... a flat rate of R250 ( R100 gets donated to the Animal Anti Cruelty League for dog food). We are about giving back.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. Look at your traveling costs 2. Book a makeup workshop for your bridesmaids and pay one fee ( *they will walk away with skills that will enable them to do their own makeup on the day)...and you will save on individual costs. 3. Ask for cheaper makeup brands if you are on a budget.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

1. What date? 2. Where are you going to be dressing. ( location)? 3. What time must you be at the church? 4. How far is the church from where you are dressing? 5. Bride + how many in the entourage? 6. Any after services required? 7.Any skin conditions? 8. Hair included/ Styling choice? 9. Picture of face & dress.

Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

We are not insured. But we stipulate our conditions, and guarantee that should your allocated makeup artist not be able to meet her commitment, she will be replaced with makeup artist of the same standard at no extra cost to the client.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

I believe one should look at the makeup artists website. If you identify with her style, make contact and ask questions...if she comes across blunt, or disconcerting, or doesn't answer at all... Well then, move onto the next one. Its important that your personalities work in sync, because the wedding day is crazzzzy...and you don't still need a crazzzy makeup artists!

What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?

In the competitive market today....if you are not trustworthy and reliable, you are not going to get very far...*social media will sort you out very fast...its a click of a button. I take pride in my work, I do it because I love working with people, I do it because I want to...I dont have to, and it gives me great satisfaction when I look back on my work. I want to be the best I possibly can be. I'm an artist!
