Art has been part of who I am ever since I can remember. Whether it was practicing to observe objects to draw a still life in art class or playing with oil paint, mixing the colours until they bring to life the idea I have in my mind. This love led me to study Graphic Design, which I thought would be the best career for me…until I discovered photography – another form of art.

Melanie Wessels Photography was born in 2009 and having graphic design as background has proven to be very handy! I have been photographing full time since then. I love capturing real emotion and real celebrations! Everything from engagement shoots, weddings or “Lifestyle-Sessions”, which include family, kids & maternity shoots.

I’m based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with my husband and two little girls. Having my own little family has shown me how important it is to take photos of them often. Kids grow so fast and it is so nice to look back at photos to remind us of special times in our lives.

I hope you enjoy looking through my work, as I strive to capture each family or event, uniquely.
