Hout Bay Puppy School

Our puppy school program includes a home visit, six puppy school lessons on a Saturday morning and our complimentary puppy outings on Wednesday mornings.

Our main focus in our class is socialization, body language, consent to play and play styles, proprioception, desensitization, problem solving abilities and confidence building. Some of the topics we discuss are house training, digging, puppy biting, destructive chewing, appropriate toys, management and enrichment.

Our programme teaches puppies and their guardians how to read body language, how to problem solve the environment and help build confidence in our puppies. We also teach body handling, leash techniques, sit, stay, “leave it”, “let’s go” and recall.

We have a maximum of 10 puppies in our class so that we can give individual attention to our guardians and their puppies and prevent bullying or flooding of the puppies. Both myself and my assistant are internationally qualified animal behaviourists and dog trainers with extensive experience.

Our trainers are fully qualified and experienced COAPE International FORCE-FREE, scientifically based trainers utilizing scientifically proven positive association training methods.
