We offer Architectural services for the residential and commercial markets. From additions and alterations, to new builds
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?
With more than 40 years of architectural design behind me, I have vast experience in the architectural field. I have worked on small additions and alterations up to new builds, with the Mohale Dam Township being my biggest project ever. I can design for a 10m² addition or I can design a home with 4 storeys in excess of 1200m². I have no specific architectural style other than I enjoy being challenged with new construction methods, energy efficient homes and old Victorian homes. After 40 years, I have gained a soft spot for "Modernism" and enjoy creating architectural designs for this.
What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?
I am a member of SAIAT (23311 SAIAT); I am a member of GBCSA (LEN003); I am a member of SAIBD (V0532/2022/G/Ass). I am waiting for my new registration number from SACAP as a Professional Architectural Technologist (PrArchT)
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
I prefer residential, but I am open to light commercial buildings as well.
How do you normally charge for your service?
I charge a square meterage rate for additions and alterations. For new builds I charge a percentage of the contract price.
What makes your pricing competitive?
I only charge 40% of the recommended fees as set out in the IDoW fee tables, as per the Architectural Act.
Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Uptasker customers?
I am open to negotiating on my fee structure, for an Uptasker customer.
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
1) Discuss exactly what your needs are and not your wants. 2) Inform me of any additional work required in the future, as I can them plan the total project and fee structure with the client. 3) Be honest about the budget that you have for the proposed project
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
1) Where are you located? 2) Do you have copies of the existing plans? 3) Who is the final decision maker?
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
My architectural work is controlled and governed by SACAP. Should I fail to comply with the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of both SAIAT and SACAP, I could lose my license. So therefore my work is guaranteed through my Controlling Bodies
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
1) Are you a registered Professional? 2) How long have you been in the industry? 3) Does your fees include additional Professional Fees? 4) Do your fees include plan submission fees to the Local Authority?
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
As this is my lively hood, and I am self employed, I need to perform at the highest level always. My reliability comes from the referral base of my clients.
