Revised Scope of Work – 24 April 2025
Good day you are invited to quote on - Replacement of Asbestos Gutter Downpipes using below SOW:
Engen Epping Distribution Centre (Epping DC) in Cape Town currently requires removal of the existing asbestos
gutter rainheads and downpipes, and subsequent replacement with PVC downpipes and rainheads. The minimum
scope requirements are as follows:
• Removal of 6x asbestos gutter rainheads and downpipes. This is to be done by a registered Asbestos
Contractor in accordance with the Asbestos Abatement Regulations (ie, Spill-Tech, Rapid Spill, Drizit
Environmental, Enviroserv)
• Disposal of all asbestos-containing materials inclusive of a Safe Disposal Certificate.
• Air monitoring during asbestos removal inclusive of required AIA sign-off.
• Preparation of all documentation and obtaining of necessary approvals prior to commencement of the
asbestos removal (as per stipulated requirements in the Asbestos Abatement Regulations/ OHSAct).
• Supply and Installation of new PVC downpipes and gutter rainheads (x6).
• Cost to be inclusive of tools, equipment, labour and all things necessary to successfully complete the job.
• Cost to be inclusive of the preparation and submission of project safety files in accordance with the Engen
HSEQ Specification attached. Note: Work is at heights, therefore all at-heights access requirements (i.e, scaffolding/ cherry-picker/ rigging
equipment where necessary) to be included in the quotation. Returnables:
• Tender/baseline project schedule (duration of works)
Notes:
• Cost to be inclusive of a Full-time registered safety officer on site for the duration of the project as per
Engen Supply Chain HSE specification provided in the tender.
• Registered asbestos contractor who will conduct the removal and disposal of the existing asbestos-
containing materials (must be an Engen vendor/have a PQA or ISO45001 – registered Engen vendors such
as Spill-Tech, Rapid Spill, etc).
• In the project programme, please cater for 5 days weather delays and 5 days employer delays. The Contractor shall, within 14 days after being awarded the tender, submit the following documentation to the
Engineer for his approval:
• A Health and Safety Plan (GCC Clause 4.3)
• An initial programme (GCC Clause 5.6)
• Form of Guarantee (Security – GCC Clause 6.2)
• Insurances (GCC 8.6 – as specified) with proof of validity
• Occupational Health and Safety Agreement
• Letter of Good Standing from the Compensation Commissioner (if not insured with a Licensed
Compensation Insurer)
• Proof of payment in terms of Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993
Note: The Defects Liability Period is 12 months. Please ensure your quotation is itemized and clearly reflects as a minimum - Removal of existing asbestos,
Installation of new PVC gutters and rainheads, P&G’s (to be inclusive of site establishment, labour, materials, other
time-related/fixed costs, etc).
